Happy Thanksgiving To All.

Posted in Warhammer- Online with tags on November 27, 2008 by theerivs

Wanted to wish you all a Happy Turkey Day, and be safe and try not to Overdose on Triptefan.

Hopefully tonight I can hit Realm Rank 30.

I don’t know thinking of trying the Way of Despair for a bit, see how it is.

Moving Day

Posted in Warhammer- Online with tags , on November 26, 2008 by theerivs

Well the news was handed down last night that my guild Einherjar will be moving. This kind of has me feeling a little wierd. A server to me is like my home. It’s the place I picked to make a virtual life. It’s where I know the trends of the AH, and the enemies I face are known to me. I like seeing the Dwarf Werit in Scenarios, or come across the Witch Hunter Lawdawg in open ground, or booting the Archmage Galendrios off the platform in Doomfist. Though they are my enemies, their MY enemies.

So when I get the word we have to pack our bags, and move it gets me kind of nervous. When I moved in real life, few questions pop up.Where will I go? If I find a place, who will our neighbors be? Do they mind if I play my stereo too loud? Will the people that live near me be jerks?

The same thoughts occur to me when I’m moving servers. Which server will I go? How will the Destro Community be there? Will their be competition there in terms of Order, and is the Order there semi talented. Will they mind my little idiosynchroncies, and not be jerks about it.

It kind of makes me mad, because Averheim wasnt that bad. I of heard of some good fights going on. Now they want to combine the population, hey Mythic how about fixing stability and lag in big fights before you throw us all together.

I don’t know I’m a little upset for better or for worse Averheim has been my home for a few months, now I’m getting the boot, and have to plop my bags onto some other servers door.

As I head into T4

Posted in Warhammer- Online with tags , on November 25, 2008 by theerivs

Being real close last night to 28, I have one foot in T3, and one foot in T4.  As I play T3 I was very discouraged, and a little sour. So I stepped into T4, I had better success, but I felt bad being there because I was a lower level.  I still have the WoW mentality sometimes. The only thing that popped in the T4 scenarios was Serpent’s Passage scenario. I liked the mechanic of it, and it was some fun. With the RvR boost I wasn’t that bad either.  I even turned in a ship part once, that mad me feel good helping the team.

There was some massive Open RvR last night in Praag, and I wanted to go, but don’t think I could contribute all that much. From what I hear it was a lot of fun for everyone. Things are starting to look up in T4, and things in general for the WAR people. Which makes me happy. I like this game, even though the grinding is painful. Last night I dinged 29, and I think I’m starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Though that light could be a train coming….

A whole lot of nothing.

Friday, I had some time before I go out drinking, so I thought I would take a look at a new instance in WoW. Utgarde Keep. I liked it. Short and Sweet. Heck in 2 hours I ran Utgarde, and Nexus twice.  Being a frost mage, with a pally tank leading the charge, we AOE’d the crap out of that place. I got my mage to 71.

Due to my heavy social drinking schedule not a heck of lot with gaming the rest of the weekend.

Last night I did take some time to level my DK to 60. I’m not much of an ALT guy, but he’s way to uber to ignore, plus he’s unholy spec and I like my ghoul pet. He’s makes me laugh.

I head into WAR tonight, and try to get my Chosen up to realm rank 29.

I’m looking forward to this holiday weekend to get a little extra gaming time. The goal is to get all my toons a couple more levels.

Grind on!!!

Reikland, and the upcoming Chosen Changes.

Posted in Warhammer- Online with tags , , , on November 21, 2008 by theerivs

I love the new scenario, everytime it popped it was such good fun. It was like a new version of Nordenwatch, which I enjoyed immensely. I think they should keep this scenario. It’s so good, and lots of fun. That can get rid of that Black Fire Basin crap if they want to get rid of a scenario.

I want to post the upcoming changes to Chosen, so that you my fellow brethren can take a gander.

  • All Chosen have undergone significant changes and will need to reallocate their career mastery points as a result. Be sure to speak to your trainer right away to regain your abilities!
  • Suppression: The parry buff from this ability should no longer stack with itself.
  • Mixed Defenses: The tooltip for this ability should now display proper values.
  • Juggernaut: This ability is now available at rank 12.
  • Guard: This ability should no longer attempt to work on players outside of your group.
  • Seeping Wound: The amount that stats contribute to the damage of this ability has been slightly increased to make it consistent with other damage over time abilities.

I’m not to happy about the changes of Guard, why? Whats wrong with protecting people outside your group like say in public PQs.

Being a Way of Discord Chosen, I’m pleased about Seeping wound…very pleased.

It’s like pulling teeth.

Posted in Warhammer- Online with tags , on November 20, 2008 by theerivs

So last week I had my wisdom teeth pulled, and let me tell you it was more enjoyable then the T3 scenarios I ran last night. I ran about 6 of them, all of them pretty bad. Black Fire Basin is my new worst enemy, I hate the turtling Order in that. So I decided just to queue up for Reikland, and Tor Anroc. Of course Reikland didn’t pop, and all I got is Tor. Which is ok, I ran about 4 of those, all pretty bad. The worse one was with 6 Bright Wizards, no healers on order and Destro still lost, pretty badly.

I was ready to toss my monitor out the window I was so peeved.

Are Bright Wizards that overpowered? Is Destro that crappy? I don’t want to point fingers I hate pointing fingers, and playing the blame game. I don’t mind losing, I hate though when a score is 500-25 with Order winning. I just want to be able to compete.

I hope T4 is better. The grind continues.

Wrath of the Lich King First Thoughts

Posted in World of Warcraft with tags , , on November 19, 2008 by theerivs

So I got Wrath of the Lich King, it’s looks nice. It’s pretty polished. Blizz does do a good job, but as I start leveling my mage I feel like I’m back on a tread mill. Now I did do the Deathknight Starter Zone – I was impressed. They do something technically, think it’s called phasing where the zone changes everytime, it’s like its own instance. I gotta say it’s pretty cool. The quests were cool, and it was some fun. Some things of note, I don’t like WoW siege engines. The aiming mechanic sucks ass, large yellow arrow thing is aggravating.

I have to say though I’m really enjoying the Deathknight class, don’t know if I’ll stick with it. But it’s something new, and shiny. Like a new toy, but how fun will it be after killing the 1000th mob.

I just have the feeling that it’s going to be the same ole crap after a few months, but I’ll get my frost mage to 80, and try to get my DK there as well. Outland again…shivers.

I feel bad though there alot of old content I like that no one will ever see. When MC, and BWL were thee raiding dungeons I think that was the golden era of WoW.

Tonight I’ll be heading back to WAR to kick some Order arse, I need me to punt someone into the Lava…it feels so good.

Wrath of the Crappy Installation

Posted in World of Warcraft with tags on November 18, 2008 by theerivs

So I bought Wrath of the Lich King. I tried to install it last night on my Vista machine, nothing but problems such as blue screens of death. I thought we got rid of those with Windows 98. Well it seems like I had to “Run it as a administrator”, As of a day later i still haven’t played it.  The sad thing is the more pissed I become the more I wanna play the stupid thing.

Well my goal is to get my mage to 80 with AOE grinding thanks to Krizzlybear’s AOE guide.

Also want to start a Deathknight so I can bring him over to Thunderlord, and play with some old school peeps.

Doom and Gloom

Posted in Warhammer- Online with tags , , , on November 17, 2008 by theerivs

I’ve been seeing alot of Doom and Gloom, alot of places. There is some sort of malaise that has fallen over the community, even my own guild. Alot are playing alts, not around, etc.etc. It’s hard to stay positive when some of the people you admire most in the game, and the blogosphere are complaining, or even throwing in the towel.

Even though I am playing both, WoW, and WAR. I really do like WAR.  I could list a bunch of improvements, but I think like all things it will be hammered out. I just hope sooner rather then later.  I also hope alot of players aren’t pinning there hopes on patch 1.1, and if it doesn’t deliver there will be an uprising I’m sure.

WAR has an uphill battle, I’m willing to slug it out. I have a firm believe what will happen is the game will go on to be successful, and there will be a tight, competitive community.

That’s when WAR Trials of Atlantis will come out, destroy everything.

6 things right with WAR

Posted in Warhammer- Online with tags on November 14, 2008 by theerivs

Since I had my wisdom teeth out yesterday, I didn’t play too much. Just a couple of scenarios, and tried to Open RvR a tosh, but alas I crashed early. Vicodin is a lovely drug by the way, maybe I am feeling it’s effects still. In the face of Wrath coming out. I thought I would say a few good words about WAR.

Why 6? Cause everyone does 5, or 10. As for me, I’m a little different.

6 Things Right with WAR

6. Alot of abilities for each class, including tactic, and morale that gives your toon choices. On my frost mage in WoW I would just spam Frostbolt. Here in WAR, there seems like there’s 8 million things to do , to get the job done. Having choices is a good thing.

5. The Quest tracker – Having the little red circles on my map telling me where quest obj. are located makes my life easier, plus with coords. on the map to boot.

4. Instant Flights between zones – It’s a minor thing, but if you ever spent 15 minutes on a back of a griffon in World of Warcraft, ya know why I like this.

3. Guild System – I like their idea of a guild that grows, gives you a sense of pride, and accomplishment.

2.  TItles – Yea their fluff, but pretty cool fluff. I feel so pretty when I am called “The Fashionable”

1. RvR – Siege Weapons, Keeps, Massive armies battling it out. I love it, even when it’s bad, and it sucks theres some good in it.

Just some of things I like about WAR, there’s a few more things I really like but I wanted to toss those up there so you can see that WAR is worth playing, and it still has some awesome things going on.
