That Winds of Change stuff has been blown away..pun intended. Here’s the news… from WA.
Something I do like about Mythic they seem to listen more then any other game design company. Is it enough though to stem the tide of all these people I come to know and like leaving. I don’t know.
So many blogs are closing their doors, but I am determined to muddle through. Last night though I think the straw landed that might of broke the camels back.
I’ve been trying to get a guild group together for Bile/Blood Run every Monday for the past four Mondays. To no avail, so I try one more time. I got healers, and tanks, but after spamming alliance, then trying to find in general I couldn’t find dps that wanted to go. DPS mind you, in the past I could pick up a rock and hit a dps. Tried for 30 minutes, to no avail.
I logged out in pure disgust last night, first time in a long while.
First of all I want to thank all who answered my little survey, and it seems alot of Chosen seem to be at the same feeling, of course it’s a real small sampling. I’ll give you my thoughts by answering my own questions.
1. Do you play a Chosen? If not go make one, then answer the rest of the questions.
Yes I played a Chosen from day 1, I don’t really have many alts. I have a few but I haven’t even passed level 10 with any of them.
2. What do you like about the Chosen Class?
I like the look, and the feel of one. By far the best tank I played in any MMO. Also the Auras are pretty cool mechanic.
3. Pick one.
A. We’re nerfed to hell
B. Our class might need some tweaking here, and there but overall we’re ok. – I’m going with B, because I feel that as a class were not being nerfed to hell, nor are we ever overpowered.
C. OMG! We’re so overpowered. I come out of the Warcamp shooting lazerz…pewpew
4. What role do you fullfill with your Chosen? Main Tank, PvP
I’m a Sword and Board tank whether it’s LV, Bile, Blood, or Running a Ram on a keep door.
5. What spec are you?
I am dread to Crippling Strikes, and Discord to Embrace the Winds, the rest in Corrupt.
6. Where do you see this class going heading into the first major expansion.
I think we’ll see more the same. I really wish they would make Corruption more worth to take. Perhaps move Embrace the Winds to that line.
7. How was the leveling experience of your Chosen? Hard? Easy? Meh?
Easy, I used the Sans method of leveling, just AoE everything.
8 In RvR, What is the hardest class you deal with?
Warrior Priests, just we sit there hit each other all day, but they wear me down eventually.
9. If given a chance to change your class and stay your level, Would you?
HELL NO!
10. In the upcoming few months what do you think Way of Chosen should focus on RvR tips, PvE tips, Tactics, etc?
I’ll try to focus on what some people said they want.

Ok I’ll try to answer the questions.
Chips, Cookies, I told you my spec, my gear is Mixture of Sentinel, Darkpromise, I use the Sword with the crit from the BS PQ, and the Shield from T4 Inf. Jewlery I still try to stack wounds, with some resists.
My thoughts on this class is I think were in alot better shape then some classes, but I think we need some more work.
Probably the thing that upsets me is the Wounds cap, I feel it’s not good that some squishy classes can have almost the same amount of HP as us.

Ok I can’t really do any better job explaining the new expansion than Greg Moran over at TOK. Here’s Pt1, and Pt2. Really fantastic job.
I really don’t get into Live Event’s all that much….well except the beer one. Hey I like to drink, Piss off ya wanker!
I am looking forward to the Tomb of the Vulture Lord. My only point of reference is Darkness Falls of Dark Ages of Camelot days. It was a fun place, I would be in there for hours just farming, or doing raids. Then all of a sudden we would lose control and battle for our dear lives. Another time I would be log in, and be surrounded by enemies, and just pwned*.
There was mention of traps, which I find odd I don’t think there is a disarming capability of any class. Will it be puzzle like.
Here are my hopes for this new dungeon:
1. These new traps will be entertaining at first, but I hope it doesn’t bog down the dungeon, or is something you got to do everytime you fricking do the dungeon.
2. Trash- Less trash is always good. I don’t mind a little. But most of it’s just stupid.
3. Better Itemization of Loot.
4. More Loot
5. Token System fully in place.
6. They include the RvR intelligently.
7 . Bring back the Rocots. I loved those guys on my weak Cleric. I use to farm them alot. LOL!
* Pwned- Funny story, the other day I told a friend of mine who is a little younger then me, but happens to be a mother of some teenagers. That she was Pwned. She goes learn to spell you douchebag. I go it’s kind of a real word, and spelled right, that it is leetspeak for purely owned, or ownage. She goes, “No it’s not” I told her to ask her teenage daughter. She comes back, “I’m the uncool mom, ain’t I”
I go, “No, I’m just really that much more cooler.”
Mark over at Spearhead blog, put up an awesome write up about me, and my blog. He’s a very talented writer. I do check in with his blog from time to time, and I’m simply blown away about how good his posts are, and the videos he got on there.
It’s funny he mentions predestiny, or fate if you will. I’m a big subscriber to such beliefs. Maybe thats why I enjoy playing a Chosen. That there’s something about the Lore that speaks to me. In real life I do believe in Fate, and that each one of us has one. Whether good or bad, rarely can we escape our fate.
Why did I start this blog? Why am I a Chosen? Simply put the Changer of Ways has deemed it so.

Well I didn’t get to much in depth with the patch. I do have to say the patching process for me is alot less painful then WoW patching day. So my hats off to Mythic for that.
I hopped right into some ORvR, and some Scenarios. First observations and of course this is a Sword and Board Chosen talking, I know alot of other classes, even DPS specced Chosen things are not perfect. I do think were way better then we were though. It wasn’t such a RDPS fest, Bright Wizards just launching Rain of Fire on Destro like mad. On my server Destro actually had a chance, more importantly from my discussions in Vent sounded like people were having fun again on Destro side.
I like some of the cosmetic changes to like the guild window, and the upgrades to keeps I can’t wait to delve more into that.
So far I’m really optimistic.
Oh yea new patch here. Time for me to unleash some hell!!
I don’t really like the word probing, makes me think of prostate exams, and alien abductions either way an uncomfortable thing to be probed.

So you want to probe me well here ya go, hope no bones fall out of my closet.
1. What is your current main character’s name (or names, if you play multiple games)? Explain how you chose the name.
My toon name is Rivs. My real nickname is River, which I had for longer then I can remember. So 99% of my toons have Riv in it, like Rivs, Rivz, Riverian, Riverion, Rivzok, etc.etc. There are a few anomlies, like Heatscourge, and Heatrash, some toons I have in WoW. When I worked at this one company my nickname was Heatscourge. We use to have a ticketing program for our Help Desk called Heat. I broke it. So my boss came in and yelled, “You are the Scourge of Heat!” Well the nickname stuck, and thought it would be a cool name for a mage as well.
2. What was the name of your very first character in an MMO? Explain how you chose that name.
My very first MMO character was in Dark Ages of Camelot. An avalonian cleric called Riverian on Isuelt. I wanted my nickname, but I wanted to sound a little more ancient maybe, or camelotish.
3. Have you kept a specific name through various games, or do you tend to change your naming habits based on the individual game?
Nope my naming habits is very consitent.
4. Do you ever reserve names, planning to use them for characters that you might play later? If so, what are they and why do you hold on to them?
No.
5. Of the three common archetypes in MMOs — tank, healer, DPS — which is your current main character?
Rivs is a tank.
6. What archetype was your very first character in an MMO? Why did you choose it?
Riverian was a cleric, back when smite clerics were ok. DAMN MARK JACOBS AND HIS SMITE CLERIC NERF!!!!.
Little back story I use to play Aliens versus Predators 2 like mad. I was in a clan called Hell’s Elite Legions. A Clan Mate said he was going to start a chapter for DAOC, would I be interested in joining. I said sure. He told me they needed healers so Riverian was born.
7. Are you usually attracted to one archetype over another, or do you play them equally? Why?
I guess I like Tanks the best now. I got burned out on healing playing one in DAOC. DPS Casters are a nice change of pace, but I’ll always return to the Tank.
I like being surrounded by mobs, or players just beating on me. It’s reminds of my bouncing days.
8. What is your favorite feature from an MMO you no longer play?
I really liked the crafting system of DAOC, I felt it was very useful.
9. Is there an MMO that you would play if it was free? Which and why?
I have to say not really, I don’t care about the price tag. If I enjoy it I’m going to play it. 20 bucks a month, or 0 dollars a month. It doesnt’ matter. Like LOTRO, I got tons of offers to come play that game on free trial, but it just doesnt appeal to me, the classes don’t jump out at me.
10. How do you measure the success of a character in an MMO (total kills, titles accumulated, wealth, rare items collected, level reached, etc.)?
I measure success on how well my guild is doing, am I doing my job. If I’m doing my job on the team, then to me I’m successful. If the boss goes down in PvE, or keep get taken. I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing. Then in my eyes I’m successful. No greater joy to me then downing a new boss, or doing something that I never done before. I really like Guild firsts, I like to say on the 50th Gruul run, that I was there on the 1st one.
I do have this thing, one day I would like to be rich in an MMO, though virtual life, and reality are one and the same here. I’m broke in both lives.
