Good News from The PTS.

My dwarven engineer buddy Werit, checked out the PTS. His report gave me a chuckle, the Blast Wave is now supposed to debuff wounds, instead of resistances, but Mythic screwed up and didn’t change the values. Even though it was a bug, it gave me a little hope for the future.

Snafzg over at the Greenskin said he was having troubles copying to the PTS, turns out it was Mythic’s problem not Snafzg’s. In turn which means I won’t even try to copy. I’ll just wait it out like everyone else.

Last night I was in a funk gaming wise. I played a little WAR, worked on my Witch Hunter, which was fun, but I die ALOT. I still have tank mentality. I logged on my Chosen, I didn’t have the stomach to do scenarios, and the ORvR wasn’t happening. So I just logged off.

Sitting there, bored, I did the unthinkable, I reupped my WoW subscription, It’s been a month or two since I logged into my server Garona, and I didn’t really know anyone in my guild. I saw an old friend online though, an ex-guildie that used to be called PinkyStinky. We chatted for awhile. She showed me the Mirror Image spell which is cool. I shouted, “All of you make me some PIE!!!”  Ah the good ole days when I use to aggravate the female gamers of our guild by playing the chauvinistic role on my drunken warrior.

No I’m not switching teams, or quitting WAR.  I don’t know if I’ll be resubbing next month to WoW or not, playing it or not. It was just nice though to chat with an old friend….but don’t be surprised if a The Way of Death blog comes out. :P

Who said PvE isn’t fun in WAR

Sunday night did Bastion Stair Dungeon for the first time, and let me tell you had a decent time. I won some lvl 35  purple shoulders (i don’t see them on wardb). When you have a good group it just went superbly well, and knocked two wings out in about an hour, not even. We had time to find a hidden world boss in the Northeast of the Chaos wastes near the Battlefield Obj. theres a swamp with some ruined walls in the middle, your supposed to jump the walls Mario fashion to get to a hidden cave. I wanna say it’s called the Lair of Grimgore.  It was a lvl 40 Hero Troll. Got a blue set of shoulder for our magus.

I did some PQ’in a bit last night and have fun trying to push myself to the limit, I died a few times, ok so it’s not smart to pull 10 mobs at a time with no heal pots. I should keep down to 5-6, but what fun is that.

I hit Realm Rank 33, 7 more to go.

I logged into World of Warcraft a bit last night, and I wasn’t feeling it anymore, I may cancel. I killed some mobs on my frost mage, and there just wasn’t a challenge there. I killed them all toot sweet.  It felt like a grind.

I think thats the key, WoW is too easy maybe, and easy is boring.

Plus once you been part of a Fortress keep with hundreds of your brothers and sisters, lag or no lag it’s just a wonderful sight to behold, makes you feel a part of something.

Wanna check out some more Dungeons,  Thulf at Stunty Stomper  has some wonderful write ups on it, go check em out. Here’s the Bastion Stair.

A whole lot of nothing.

Friday, I had some time before I go out drinking, so I thought I would take a look at a new instance in WoW. Utgarde Keep. I liked it. Short and Sweet. Heck in 2 hours I ran Utgarde, and Nexus twice.  Being a frost mage, with a pally tank leading the charge, we AOE’d the crap out of that place. I got my mage to 71.

Due to my heavy social drinking schedule not a heck of lot with gaming the rest of the weekend.

Last night I did take some time to level my DK to 60. I’m not much of an ALT guy, but he’s way to uber to ignore, plus he’s unholy spec and I like my ghoul pet. He’s makes me laugh.

I head into WAR tonight, and try to get my Chosen up to realm rank 29.

I’m looking forward to this holiday weekend to get a little extra gaming time. The goal is to get all my toons a couple more levels.

Grind on!!!

Doom and Gloom

Posted in Warhammer- Online with tags , , , on November 17, 2008 by theerivs

I’ve been seeing alot of Doom and Gloom, alot of places. There is some sort of malaise that has fallen over the community, even my own guild. Alot are playing alts, not around, etc.etc. It’s hard to stay positive when some of the people you admire most in the game, and the blogosphere are complaining, or even throwing in the towel.

Even though I am playing both, WoW, and WAR. I really do like WAR.  I could list a bunch of improvements, but I think like all things it will be hammered out. I just hope sooner rather then later.  I also hope alot of players aren’t pinning there hopes on patch 1.1, and if it doesn’t deliver there will be an uprising I’m sure.

WAR has an uphill battle, I’m willing to slug it out. I have a firm believe what will happen is the game will go on to be successful, and there will be a tight, competitive community.

That’s when WAR Trials of Atlantis will come out, destroy everything.

Lets get it on!!!

Well today Wrath of the Lich King comes out, and even though I will be getting it. I will not leave WAR. I said this before so I won’t rehash my thoughts.

What I am worried about, WAR is an PvP/RvR game, to do that you need people to fight. Without people to fight, what fun is it?

I’ll tell you something I had the most fun in DAOC when it wasn’t zerg fests, just a core group of people out in the frontiers working on taking objectives, and having some fun. Sometimes you died, sometimes you won, but it was more fun, controllable.

Right now in T3 at least it’s all about who can zerg better. I don’t really like that too much.

Is WAR so bad that it drove me back to WoW. No. I spend 4 years of my life in WoW, another chapter has come out. I have to see it to the end I believe. See how it plays out.

Like I said I’ll be sticking with WAR, but I’m worried that it might be a ghost town for awhile.

Frost Mage Love

In the world event by Blizz, you can kill invading armies of the Scourge at certain spots. You get these Necrotic Runes. The Runes you can turn in for stuff. One of the things is a horn that calls your own pet Paladin. Paladin really sucks, but whats cool is the Paladin bubbles, and hearthes when its done. I want one real bad. I was doing AOE with my Frost Mage. I went 61 all frost. I don’t know I love the frost line. It was SICK! The numbers were flying all over the screen when I cast my blizzard. It was the most fun I had in WoW in years…years. I think last time I had that much fun was BWL in the suppression room. That was a mage love room.

In WAR I’m looking forward to the Witching Night patch, to see if I can get any cool stuff. Also I have to get some XP under my belt. I really like some of the improvement being made, and were WAR is headed. The next few levels are going to be painful.

Congo Rats to Me.

Woot! Ding! etc.etc. I made Rank 25. 24 seemed to take forever. One good thing is I had some nice scenarios last night. Some resounding wins, and some bitter defeats. I was glad a couple other scenarios opened up, beside Tor Anroc. Though I’m in probably the vast minority that actually likes that scenario. It seems like I was getting more xp in scenarios though in general. I don’t know if this is true or not, but I won’t complain. I would like to have seen more Open RvR last night since Order seemed to own everything in T3. It seems like Destro all moved on to T4.

In the land of WoW, the zombie event is over I liked it for the most part. I can see though how it could get aggravating reeeeaaalll quick. Tonight I hit Kara, with full blown frost spec, which is my spec of choice. I can’t wait to see how it performs.

Back to the Future

So I was really busy this weekend didn’t get to play WAR too much. Last night I got a bug up my tookus, I had to check out Thee zombie event of WoW. So I dusted off the WoW account. Loaded the ungodly patch. Loaded it up. I checked it out. At 70 pretty cool, but if I was trying to grind up a toon for the expansion..not so cool. It was different, and when dealing with WoW anything different is cool. So I sat there checked out the glyph stuff, which was cool. I also liked the fact mounts, and pets don’t take up bag space anymore.  There’s alot of things I still like about WoW. It does do PvE right. Which I enjoy…on occasion. It was really nice to chat with some old friends.

Will I get WoTLK, and get my my toon to 80 in WoW, yes. I never said I hated WoW. I just grew tired of alot of the things offered.

Will I delete my WAR account. Never. I love this game. Can’t beat RvR.

So I must be one of those people that Mark Jacobs talks about duel wielding MMO’s
